A year at our school
Our 2025 Showcase 'Step into the Spotlight'
Our biannual School Concert took place on Friday 28 November 2025, at GRC Peakhurst. This year’s theme, ‘Step into the Spotlight,’ inspired students to showcase their unique talents and express their creativity across a variety of performances. Each class item was warmly received by the audience, which included proud parents, teachers and community members. The evening highlighted not only the individual skills of our students but also their ability to work collaboratively in groups. Behind the scenes, staff and volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth running of the event, from stage management to technical support. Our appreciation goes to the Concert Committee, led by Miss Pasia, for their outstanding organisation of this significant school event.
A special highlight of the evening was the surprise performance by our dedicated staff, who delighted everyone with their enthusiasm and talent, adding an extra special touch to the concert.
Special thanks to GRC Peakhurst for generously allowing us to use their hall, which provided an excellent venue for the concert. We also extend our appreciation to the high school students who assisted behind the scenes with lighting, music and props to ensure the performances ran smoothly and professionally.
Swimming Carnival
Our school swimming carnival took place on Tuesday 25 November at the Roselands Leisure Centre. It was a fantastic day filled with enthusiasm, friendly competition and school spirit. Students participated eagerly in a wide variety of swimming events, showcasing their skills and determination. Throughout the day, the stands were alive with cheers and encouragement as peers supported each other with great enthusiasm.
We are proud to report that our students exhibited exemplary behaviour throughout the carnival. Their respect for one another and positive sportsmanship contributed greatly to the overall success of the day.
This event would not have been possible without the dedication and careful planning of Miss Wright and Miss Pasia. Their thorough organisation ensured that every aspect of the carnival ran seamlessly. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our teachers, School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs) and work experience students, who worked tirelessly in the heat to judge events, oversee participant safety and encourage student involvement. Their commitment and support were invaluable throughout the carnival.
Good luck to our students who have now qualified to compete at the Georges River Carnival in early 2026. We look forward to hearing about your achievements!
Presentation Day
Our K-6 Presentation Day was held on Tuesday 9 December 2025, on the school grounds. This special assembly provided a wonderful opportunity to recognise the outstanding academic, sporting and extracurricular achievements of our students throughout the year. We extend our gratitude to Mr. Zhi Soon, the Federal Member for Banks, and Mr Mark Coure, Member for Oatley, for attending the ceremony and kindly providing the prestigious Commonwealth and NSW Parliamentarian awards to our students.
A heartfelt thank you to Chloe and Alastair, our 2025 School Captains, who did an outstanding job compering the Presentation Day assembly. We are immensely proud of the leadership they have demonstrated throughout the year and wish them both every success in their future endeavours. Finally, thank you to all the teachers who supported the preparation of awards and worked tirelessly throughout the year to contribute to our students’ success.
P&C BBQ and Disco
The P&C hosted their annual end-of-year disco and BBQ on Friday 5 December 2025. We sincerely thank all the families who joined us for this occasion and kindly donated prizes for the Christmas hampers. Congratulations to the lucky families who won raffle prizes during the evening!
A special thank you goes to Melinda Wood, Emma Howe, and our dedicated P&C committee members and parent volunteers for their exceptional coordination and generous efforts in preparing and serving food throughout the event. Your continued support is truly valued. It was a fantastic evening enjoyed by everyone involved!
Thank you, Miss Pasia and Mrs. Meoli, for generously giving up your time to provide the music for the disco. Your contribution made the event even more enjoyable for everyone!
Kindergarten Excursion to Calmsley Hill Farm
On Monday 3 November, our Kindy students enjoyed an exciting excursion to Calmsley Hill Farm. This hands-on learning experience deepened their understanding of farm life and the environment through direct interaction with animals such as sheep, cows, chickens and horses. The children participated in engaging activities like sheep shearing demonstrations, animal feeding and tractor rides, which helped bring their classroom topics about animals and farming to life. This excursion not only sparked curiosity and enthusiasm for nature and agriculture, but also created lasting memories as they connected with the natural world outside the classroom.
Our appreciation goes to Ms Gatis and Miss Pasia for coordinating this excursion for our students. Thanks also to the SLSOs and parents who attended the excursion to assist with supervision to ensure a safe and enjoyable time was had by all.
"Our family has been incredibly fortunate to part of such a warm and welcoming school community. Being a smaller school has meant that there's a real sense of connection that creates a supportive environment for the students to thrive. The dedication of the teachers and staff has been outstanding; they go above and beyond to ensure every child feels valued and encouraged. As a parent, I’ve always felt included and supported, and the P&C has been a fantastic way to connect with other families and contribute to the school. We’re so grateful for the friendships and experiences we’ve had here – it truly is a great school. "— a parent of Penshurst West Public School
